Poornima: Only Through Prayer
CBN.com – Poornima is 20 years old, and the oldest child in her family. Her father was a Hindu until he accepted Jesus Christ, but mother is still Hindu. There are many misunderstandings between her parents because of their different faiths.
Poornima studied up to 12th grade but discontinued her studies due to financial constraints. She was then hired at a telephone company’s collection department as a telemarketer.
Her colleagues mocked her because she was not fluent in English and was not able to reach her company’s performance goals. The disturbances at home plus the disappointment at work caused Poornima to become severely depressed.
During her depression she happened to watch Thiruppumunai, produced by CBN India. As soon as she saw the toll free number, she called CBN and shared all her problems with the counselor and asked for prayer. The counselor encouraged her with the word of God and prayed earnestly for her future.
After about two months, she called CBN again - this time not with a request for prayer but with praise for an answer to prayer. God had done a great miracle in her life: her boss taught her conversational English, and she learned to speak in English fluently. Within two months she achieved 97 percent of her target performance goals. Now, she is leading a team.
Looking at her sudden improvement, her colleagues were surprised and curious about the changes. Poornima told them, “With Jesus nothing is impossible.” She also shared the Gospel and helped her friends to understand Jesus’ mighty works.
Poornima told her friends about CBN, and they started calling CBN, too, for their prayer needs. She is standing as a witness for God, and she is very happy. Poornima gave thanks to Jesus and to CBN, saying only through prayer has God changed her life.
