– Before school, 17-year-old Li Juan washes the dishes, cleans the windows and sweeps the floor. After school, she goes to the market. When Li Juan’s father died, her mother just gave up. So, Li Juan had to take over and care for her brother, her sister, and her grandparents.
“We count on her completely. She gets very tired, but she says she will always there to comfort and take care of us,” Li Juan’s grandmother said.
But one night when Li Juan was walking home from the grocery store, she was hit by a car. The impact crushed both of her hips.
“I fainted. And when I woke up, I was in the hospital,” Li Juan said.
Doctors put a steel plate in Li Juan’s leg and the pain got worse. Four operations later, her hips were still in bad shape. She had to use crutches to get around, and since Li Juan’s family survives on meager government assistance, they didn’t have the money for any additional surgeries.
“My grandparents were worried that I’d be crippled for the rest of my life. I wondered who was going to take care of my family now?” Li Juan said.
Li Juan’s leg hurt so much that she never slept through the night.
“I prayed to the Lord to heal me. I asked him to get me off my crutches so that I could help my family again,” Li Juan said.
God answered Li Juan’s prayer when someone from her church put her in touch with CBN. CBN paid for surgery to repair Li Juan’s hips and remove the steel plate from her leg. Today, Li Juan’s hips are completely healed and she’s off of her crutches for good.
“I had dreamed about the day that my Li Juan would be able to walk freely without crutches. Now, watching her after surgery? I’m so happy for her. We are all happy,” her grandmother said.
“I don’t have any pain anymore and I can sleep through the night!” Li Juan said. “I could hardly wait to thank the Lord for sending CBN to help me.”
Li Juan can take care of her family again and she says she doesn’t want to stop there.
“I know how hard it is to be sick and how people long to be healed. So I want to help relieve other people’s pain. Thank you CBN for helping to make this dream of mine come true!” Li Juan said.
