– Seventy-one year old Ming Zhen has been waking up every morning at 6:00 for years. She has to get up earlier than everyone else to collect the most cardboard boxes. Ming Zhen makes her living by recycling.
"I am glad that I can still work at my age. I will not stop until I can not move anymore."
...Or until she can’t see. And Ming Zhen knows that day is coming. She has cataracts in both of her eyes. And over the past year, they’ve gotten progressively worse.
"It is really hard to walk sometimes. Once, I could not see where I was going, so I fell into a ditch and my elbows got all scraped up," she says.
Zhen has no family and noone to help her. But she’s consistently pressed on. Then her vision got so bad...
"I could not see anything through my left eye. I could not collect cardboard anymore."
That’s when a church near Zhen’s home put her in touch with someone at CBN, and CBN made arrangements for free cataract surgery.
"I can not believe this happened to me. My eyes are cured now. I can see clearly and go everywhere on my own," says Ming Zhen.
Zhen’s sight is so good now that she was just able to get a fresh start with her business.
"I am very happy now, and I hope to live to be over 100 years old!"
And CBN is doing everything it can to help Zhen do that! Thanks to the three wheeler that CBN just gave Zhen, her business is booming! Now she’s able to make more collections than ever, and that puts her one step ahead of the competition!
And when Zhen’s not working, she’s in church!
"I give thanks to God that I got this free surgery. Now, I believe in the Lord and will follow Him always. I’ve been released from darkness, and my life is better than it ever was. Thank you Lord, and thank you CBN!"
