GOLDIE'S HOME REMEDIES

Tips to Live and Be Well

Acne Remedies

Here’s some home remedies:

  • Pound some orange peel to a pulp and mix it with a little water then apply it to the affected area. Orange peel has been found very effective in the local treatment of acne.
  • You can also reduce pimples and acne by regularly applying lemon juice on the infected areas.
  • And garlic, let’s not forget garlic – it helps to clean the skin. Just cut some raw garlic in half and rub it on the skin. Be sure to include garlic in our diet, too – it cleans the blood. Friends may fall by the wayside but think how beautiful your skin will be. Right Bernie? Not enough garlic in the world!
  • If smelling like garlic does not appeal to you, you can take a teaspoon of coriander or mint juice mixed with a pinch of turmeric powder. Take the mixture and apply it to your face every night before going to bed. And don’t forget to wash your face really well after a few minutes.
  • And to help prevent these bumps and lumps, apply grated cucumber over the face, eyes and neck for 15 minutes every day.

So there you are: simple home remedies for fighting acne. You’ll try it, you’ll like it

Amnesia

Do you suffer from memory loss? For those of us who suffer from a little amnesia now and then there’s some simple things you can do just by feeding your face –there are different reasons you could be having this problem always check with your doctor to make sure your health is good.

If your memory is linked to some basic nutritional needs – I’ve got help.

  • Since ancient times rosemary has been regarded as an herb for remembrance. An antidote for mental fatigue and forgetfulness. So, you make some rosemary tea and drink it twice a day. It’s a natural remedy for enhancing mental agility.
  • Almonds, walnuts, apples, figs, grapes, oranges and dates are all valuable for restoring poor memory caused by brain weakness. I send my son, Howie a basket of fruits and nuts every month hoping that he’ll remember to call me once in a while. What’s a mother to do?
  • Another remedy is eating a handful of walnuts and raisins or figs daily. This is also good for fiber – you can never get enough fiber!.
  • And believe it or not there are two spices that are also helpful for memory loss.  Those are cumin seeds and I forgot the other – no, seriously, it’s black pepper.  You mix a little cumin seeds or some black pepper with honey once a day. Take a little spoonful and see all those things you thought you’d forgotten come back to haunt you! Maybe it’s better to forget.

Anemia

Are you like my husband Bernie always complaining of weakness, fatigue, lack of energy and even dizziness? You could have a little iron poor blood. Other symptoms include premature wrinkles, dull and tired looking eyes, poor memory, shortness of breath, headaches.

But “what can we do about it?” You ask. First of all, see your doctor and make sure it’s not something more complicated. Otherwise, there are some simple things you can do to help yourself:

  • You might need a little vitamin B 12. This vitamin is usually found in animal protein so a small piece of lean meat the size of your fist once a week will help this. Of course, i like organic, but make sure it’s lean – the fat you don’t need trust me.
  • Beets have high iron content and help in the formation of the red blood cells. Their juice strengthens the body’s power of resistance and has proved to be an excellent remedy for anemia – especially in children and teenagers.
  • Eat lots of green leafy lettuce and spinach. You never saw Popeye tired after knocking back a can of spinach.
  • Soybeans are also rich in iron and have high protein value. But if you also suffer from a week digestion, soy should be taken in a very light form. I prefer to take my soy in milk form.
  • Other foods rich in sources of iron are sesame seeds, honey, bananas, black grapes, plumbs, strawberries, raisins, onions, squash, carrots, radish, celery, and tomatoes. That’s a lot to remember but go to living the life.com for the list.

Finally, remember diet is extremely important. Refined foods like white bread, polished rice, sugar, and deserts rob the body of its much needed iron. Emphasize raw vegetables and fresh fruits in your diet which are rich in iron.

Addicted to Lip Balm

Do you know what the ingredients in lip balm are? Menthol and camphor. They pull moisture from your lips. So now you have more cracking and dryness.

Switch to a balm that is made primarily from aloe. Aloe has healing properties which helps restore moisture to your beautiful lips.

Relief for a Raspy Voice

If you have laryngitis, be careful not to strain your voice. When you speak, speak in a normal voice. Here’s another hint: stick your face over a pan of boiling water and inhale the steam.

Sinusitis

There are three things that will relieve the pressure. First, drink tons of water. Second, take a hot face cloth and put it over your face and breathe in. And lastly, are you sitting down? Hot peppers! Because hot peppers will open up the sinus passage and cause it to drain. Don’t forget the chicken soup.

Bad Breath

  • Parsley is also very good. So make sure you grab that garnish from your plate before you leave the diner.
  • Another good thing to do is carry a few fennel seeds with you at all times and chew them when you feel a bout of bad breath coming on.

Insomnia

Do you have trouble sleeping at night? You’re not alone. Millions of people have the same problem. It could be because of stress or caffeine.

Here’s what I want you to do:

Take a warm bath with lavender or orange oil sprinkled in it. That will make you calm and relaxed. Then, put your jammies on and before you crawl into bed take something called valerian root. You can get it at the health food store.
