Things You Should Do

• Find a good colorist. Some stylists are great at cutting and styling, but may not be particularly good at coloring.
• Bring pictures. "A picture is worth a thousand words."
• Be a good communicator, know what you want.

Things Your Stylist Should Do

• Ask a lot of questions.
• Tell you pretty specifically what you’ll have done and the cost.
• Give you options.

Go more than once to the same person. Color is a theory not an exact science. There are so many variables in doing color, especially corrective color. It’s near impossible to get it exactly the way you or the stylist want the first time.
