Pro-Life Movement Gaining Strength in Europe

CWNews.com–-Just as the abortion debate stirs strong feelings here in the United States, the same is true for a growing number of Europeans, according to a report in USA Today.
One key motivation behind the resurging European pro-life movement may not be exactly the same as it is here in the U.S., where the population is growing fast enough to keep America economically strong in the future.
But in Europe. fewer people are having children. Concern over that declining birth rate has some people acting now, wanting to strengthen Europe's population growth and Europe itself.
This spring, Poland will decide whether to amend the constitution to ban the practice altogether. In Paris, thousands marched to ban abortions outright.
And last year. Italy placed import restrictions on the drug RU-486, commonly known as "the morning after pill."
Abortion still remains legal throughout most of Europe. Countries with tough laws restricting abortion have come under fire.
Just last month, the U.N. criticized Poland for its lack of access to abortions, expressing concern for women's rights.
But Europe's "birth dearth" is changing some minds on the issue. Fewer European babies being born, has had the unintended - and unexpected - consequence of strengthening Europe's pro- life movement.
