In the Palm of His Hand

We have been here nearly all week in the quaint village of Metula on Israel's northern border with Lebanon, this corner of Israel on the front lines of war.

Two nights ago Israeli artillery lit up the sky just behind the town with an air and artillery barrage that shook the bed and breakfast we are staying in.

Yesterday, several Katusha rockets landed near the town and the air raid siren punctured the "quiet" of this village throughout the day followed by a Hebrew announcement to go to the bomb shelters.  A Hezbollah cell tried to penetrate the defenses of this town two weeks ago but were repelled by a joint tank, artillery and helicopter gunship barrage.

Despite the sounds, sights and dangers around us, the CBN crew and myself have felt an unusual sense of peace.  We can only explain that God is watching over us and that His word is as true today as it was in the days of King David and the prophet Isaiah.

"He keeps his mind in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee." (Isaiah) "He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide in the Shadow of the Almighty."

"Yea, thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, thou art with me, Thou Rod and Staff, they comfort me." (King David)
