CBNNews.com - JERUSALEM, Israel - This Sunday is called the day of prayer for the peace of Jerusalem.
Thousands of churches and millions of Christians around the world will participate.
"We as Christians have a Biblical mandate to pray for the peace of Jerusalem," said Robert Stearns, who co-founded the effort to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
He continued, "Around the world over 1,400 major Christian leaders have called the Body of Christ to set aside the first Sunday of every October as an annual day to focus prayer and intercession on God's heart and purposes for the city of Jerusalem and all the inhabitants that live in this vital center."
Stearns says it's always important to pray for Jerusalem, but especially at this time.
"In this specific moment with the looming threat of a nuclear Iran with all the instability in the region, with the political turmoil in Israel with the change of the government, it's urgent that Bible believing Christians stand as watchmen on the walls for God's heart for this city," he said.
Stearns says it's easy for local churches to join in.
He said, "It's about every local congregation setting aside a few minutes or the whole service on the first Sunday of every October of every year to pray for God's heart for this city."
A caring friend will be there to pray with you in your time of need.
