Archbishop Urges Ban on Gay Bishops

CBNNews.com - The Archbishop of Canterbury has called on Anglicans worldwide to extend a ban on appointing gay bishops.
Rowan Williams made his plea on the final day of the Anglicans' once-a-decade gathering known as the Lambeth Conference.
Williams said Anglicans need more time to consider whether to accept changes in the traditional biblical understanding of same-sex relationships.
That's not likely to satisfy the conservative Anglicans, who believe the Bible speaks clearly on the issue of homosexuality and there's nothing else to consider.
Still, the Archbishop hopes to have another meeting of Anglican leaders early next year.
The 77-million-member Anglican Communion has been splintering since 2003, when the U.S. Episcopal Church consecrated the openly gay Bishop Gene Robinson of New Hampshire.
More than 200 theologically conservative bishops boycotted Lambeth, which ran for 20 days.
