CBNNews.com - A new web-based ministry allows Christians an opportunity to have a prominent role in the war on terror. But its not for the faint of heart.
It's called, Adopt-A-Terrorist for Prayer, and aims to use prayer as a counter-offensive strategy not used by generals or politicians.
The model follows Jesus' command to pray for our enemies. First, Christians select a terrorist, and then pray daily for a change of heart.
Dr. Thomas Bruce, the Web site's founder, told The Christian Post that he believes the war on terrorism is a spiritual struggle against fear.
"The terrorists are just the highest profile intimidators in Satan's arsenal," Bruce said. "They think they are serving God."
"Fear destroys hope by inspiring despair. Despair destroys faith and spreads doubt. Doubt undermines trust and then isolates us from one another," he said. "You and I can resist the debilitating effects of terrorism by identifying with this prayer movement, encouraging each other, and challenging others to join."
Bruce said he believes that terrorists are vulnerable to the Word of God.
The idea for the adopt a terrorist Web site was formed after Bruce heard a retired Army general speak on the need for spiritual resources in the battle against terrorism's spiritual attack.
On the site, Christians can learn about nearly a hundred prominent individuals the FBI and the State Department have identified as either terrorists or terrorism sponsors.
"Visitors can then find a terrorist to pray for, as well as see how many others are praying for them," Bruce said. "It's all about connecting these prayer warriors to each other to see how others are praying, to encourage each other, to spread the word, and fight this War on Terrorism in a powerful and spiritual way."
