CBNNews.com - Retired Lt. Gen. Carol Mutter sent praises to John McCain's service to his country, Thursday, at the Republican National Convention.

Mutter was the first woman in the U.S. military to become a three-star general and talked about the challenges men and women in the military face today.

She stressed the importance of a president who understands what they endure and has their interests in mind.

"We live in a dangerous world, where enemies don't talk about timelines or retreat and where old foes are emboldened enough to resurrect old ambitions," Mutter explained. "We live in a world where the enemy can accept a short-term setback for a long-term gain. This is the world we live in, and in such a world, we cannot afford to be impatient."

"I know that John McCain will be that Commander in Chief who will never forget what's at stake or who pays the ultimate price," she later added.

Mutter also spoke of her friend and colleague Megan McClung, who was highest ranking woman killed in Iraq.
