Romney Downs Democrats' Idea of Change

CBNNews.com - Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney spoke of the need for a "conservative Washington," Wednesday night in his speech to the Republican National Convention.
"We have a prescription for every American who wants change in Washington --throw out the big government liberals and elect John McCain and Sarah Palin," Romney said. Romney dropped his bid for the presidency earlier this year.
The former governor charged that Democrats "don't have a clue" on how to handle the economy, and that they would "replace opportunity" with a dependence on the government.

"They would grow government and raise taxes to put more people on Medicaid, to work requirements out of welfare and to grow the ranks of those who pay no taxes at all," he said. "It's time to stop the spread of government dependency and fight it like the poison it is."
"It's time for the party of big ideas, not the party of big brother," he said.
Romney kept up the attacks throughout most of his speech, reminding those gathered of comments Sen. Barack Obama made during a forum last month at Saddleback Church.
"At Saddleback, after Barack Obama dodged and ducked every direct question, John McCain hit the nail on the head," Romney said, referring to Obama's answer on the question of evil. "And radical, violent Islam is evil, and he (McCain) will defeat it."
"Republicans prefer straight talk to politically correct talk," he said.
