President Vetoes Doctors' Medicare Bill

CBNNews.com - WASHINGTON -- The Associated Press has learned that President Bush has vetoed a bill designed to protect doctors from a cut in their Medicare pay.
The White House does not oppose the pay for doctors, but does object to the way the legislation would finance the plan.
The AP learned of the veto Tuesday from a senior administration official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the veto had not yet been officially announced. Both chambers of Congress are expected to move quickly to override the veto.
Lawmakers are under pressure from doctors and the elderly patients they serve to void a 10.6 percent pay cut for doctors treating Medicare patients.
