Want to Lose Weight? Keep a 'Food Diary'

CBNNews.com - Keeping a food diary can help you lose more weight, according to a new study.

Of the more than 1,500 participants in the study, those who wrote down what they ate lost twice as much as those who did not.

Most diary dieters lost about 13 pounds over 6 months, but some lost twice that amount.

And while researchers say participants didn't like keeping the records, it's actually what helped them the most.

"A lot of us go through the day on autopilot. And if you write it down, you're not on autopilot anymore," said Victor Stevens, Senior Investigator for Kaiser Permanente

Doctors say the accountability that comes with keeping a food diary actually changes how people eat.
