Christian Statement Warns Fighting Global Warming Could Hurt the Poor

WASHINGTON - Some conservative Christian leaders warn that costly measures to combat global warming could hurt the poor while accomplishing little.
Signers of a declaration titled "We Get It" question whether humans significantly cause or could stop global warming. They add that stewardship of God's Creation should be done in a way that doesn't hurt the poor by driving up the cost of food and energy.
The document is endorsed by Focus on the Family's Dr. James Dobson, leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention and Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe, the ranking Republican on the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.
