Church Torched in Kenya
January 2, 2008
Churches have always been seen throughout the centuries as safe havens, shelters amongst the storms that tear apart countries. But in an attack reminiscent of the attacks on churches in Rwanda during the genocide in 1994, an angry mob of Kenyans burned down an Assemblies of God Church in Eldoret.
Fifty ethnic Kikuyus were murdered-some were hacked with machetes-most were burned alive. The majority of the victims were children.
This brings the death toll to 275 dead in the past few days of violence in the wake of the Presidential elections.
I have calls in to several of my contacts in Kenya. Will try to provide firsthand accounts as they come. If you would like to add your comments on the situation, send me an e-mail.
