The Times of London has turned its powerful spotlight on the shadowy Islamic group Tablighi Jamaat and its plan to build a mega-mosque on London’s east end.  Times reporter Andrew Norfolk reports that the group “has set its sights on ‘winning the whole of Britain to Islam.’”

The dictum that “any publicity is good publicity” probably doesn’t apply to Tablighi Jammat, which has been characterized by experts as a secretive, anti-western breeding ground for extremism. When I asked a Tablighi spokesman in London for an interview last year, he acted like I was crazy.

 

The Times’ Andrew Norfolk writes, “One leading Tablighi Jamaat advocate, Ebrahim Rangooni, has said that the movement seeks to ‘rescue the ummah [the global Muslim community] from the culture and civilization of the Jews, the Christians and [other] enemies of Islam’. Its aim, he wrote, is to ‘create such hatred for their ways as human beings have for urine and excreta’.”
