The 700 Club Prayer Counseling Centers in Virginia Beach, Virginia and Nashville, Tennessee (PCC) are departments of The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) that provide prayer, scriptural guidance and literature to people through CBN’s telephone prayer line. The center’s phones are staffed by more than 350 prayer counselors who process over four million calls a year. They are trained in offering comfort and encouragement from a biblical perspective. Additional CBN employees are utilized during telethons and other special programming to handle the higher call volume.

STRUCTURE
The PCC operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. In addition to serving CBN partners seeking spiritual ministry, the prayer counselors also provide CBN resources and process calls for the telethons. Increasingly, prayer counselors assist callers through content at www.CBN.com. Prayer counselors are in teams; supported by servant management of Trainers and Supervisors. For most CBN partners, The 700 Club Prayer Counseling Center is their first line of contact to the ministry.

BACKGROUND
CBN’s first telethon was held in 1963. After the telethon, telephone lines were kept active as prayer lines. More than 3,500 calls were answered that year. The 700 Club Prayer Counseling Center was launched in 1974 to answer calls 24 hours a day. It received 279,902 calls in its first year. At an average of more than 14,000 daily inbound/outbound calls, we anticipate processing five million calls this year. This includes thousands of CBN Partners who are contacted through outbound call projects on a regular basis.

SERVICES
The primary focus of The 700 Club Prayer Counseling Center is basing every call experience in scripture and prayer. CBN’s trained prayer counselors listen with compassion to people’s concerns, they offer encouraging words from the Bible, and they always pray for God’s solution to the problems. PCC telephone staff also offer callers free literature from dozens of pamphlets and www.CBN.com resources. This material covers relevant spiritual topics such as prayer, finances, marriage, salvation, and other subjects that concern our callers. The PCC is also a foundation to the various outreaches of CBN through intercessory prayer, calling upon God to empower CBN to advance the Gospel throughout the world.

STATISTICS
Phone calls to CBN’s prayer line are categorized according to the subject matter discussed during the call. The number of calls to the prayer line and the number of people who made a decision to receive Jesus Christ as Savior have been recorded since 1963. Other call categories have been tracked since 1977. This data is used to measure our progress and informs broadcast strategy for future ministry efforts.
